Western media, citing US military representatives, reported that Moscow has not named a date for the Thunder exercises.
Russia has not yet notified the United States of its nuclear exercises, which Washington expects from Moscow in the near future. This was reported by Reuters news agency, citing a senior US military representative.
The media said that Russia within a few days may conduct test launches of missiles during the annual exercises of its strategic nuclear forces Grom.
The New START Treaty (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty – ed.) states that Russia is obliged to provide timely notification of such missile launches.
A US military spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity, said “it’s still early.” So far, however, the United States “has not received any official notification.”
As previously reported, the United States and Russia have exchanged notifications on the number of strategic offensive weapons of the two countries under START III.
