Ukraine, as the winning country of Eurovision 2022, will automatically enter the grand final of the upcoming contest.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced that two cities, Glasgow and Liverpool, will compete for the right to host the international song contest in 2023. This is reported by the BBC.
Initially, seven UK cities applied for the right to host the show: Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Glasgow and Liverpool.
“Thank you to all seven UK cities who have shown the UK’s passion and passion for Eurovision. We are very impressed with the quality and creativity of all cities’ proposals in this highly competitive industry,” said Phil Harrold, Chairman of the BBC Selection Committee for Host Cities.
It was noted that the commission is talking to representatives of both cities to choose the best candidate. A final decision will be made in a few weeks.
The UK is hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on behalf of Ukraine, which won this year’s contest.
It was previously reported that the decision to host Eurovision 2023 in the UK was made after several rounds of consultation between the ICIP and the European Broadcasting Union.
