This really pisses off real artists. Artists fear that their work will be replaced by machines.
A work of art created by artificial intelligence won first place in the State Fine Arts Competition. The winner of the digital category at the Colorado State Fair was the work of Jason Allen’s Theater D’opéra Spatial (Spatial Opera Theatre), writes Vice.
The painting depicts a strange scene as if from a space opera. However, it gives the impression of being a masterfully painted painting. Classical figures in the baroque hall look out the round porthole at the sunlit and illuminated landscape.
The picture was drawn by an artificial intelligence program called Midjourney. Allen used his tips, but he didn’t use a digital brush. However, it caused controversy. Working artists and enthusiasts accused the author of hastening the demise of creative professions.
“We are watching the death of artistry unfold before our eyes. If creative jobs are not machine-proof, then even highly skilled jobs can become obsolete. What will we have then?” the artists’ argument.

In doing so, according to Allen, his contributions were instrumental in the creation of the award-winning painting.
“I studied a special tip that I will post later, I created hundreds of images with it, and after many weeks of fine-tuning and curation of my generation, I chose the top three and ini -print them on canvas using Gigapixel AI,” noted the author.
He also added that his critics judge art by the way it is created, and eventually the art world will recognize art created by AI as a separate category.
“What if we look at it from the other extreme, what if an artist makes an incredibly difficult and complex series of obstacles to create a piece, let’s say he creates his art by hanging upside down and beat while painting. Should this artist’s work be rated differently than another artist’s work who created the same “normal” piece? I know what will come out of this in the end, they’ll just make an Art of artificial category intelligence, which I represent for the matter,” he added.
Allen again mentions the human factor necessary to create a work.
“I make pictures with MJ, pass with Photoshop and zoom in with Gigapixel. I won’t stop now. This success only strengthens my mission,” the artist stated.
Recall that the video for the legendary song of the cult rock band Civil Defense called Everything goes according to plan, performed by the late musician Yegor Letov, was created using the Midjourney neural network.
