Disney+ released a new trailer for “Pinocchio”, a film that will combine live action with computer graphics technology In the two-minute trailer, acclaimed actor Tom Hanks plays the part Geppettocarpenter who builds the famous wooden doll.
“This is a new version of a cute story about a wooden doll who goes on an exciting adventure to become a real boy,” reads the synopsis of the film, directed by the director. Robert Zemeckisknown for his work on films such as Back to the Future and Forrest Gump.
In addition to Tom Hanks as the old carpenter, the cast includes Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Pinocchio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Cynthia Erivo as the fairy, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John, Lorraine Bracco as Sophia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans as the coachman.
When and where will Pinocchio be released?
This feature film is part of a grand strategy Disney reimagining their classics either with new animation techniques or with real actors. The studio has already done this with updates for Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo, and more.
‘Pinocchio’ in real action will be released on 8 September through the platform Disney+. This will be one of the new products the company will be launching on the occasion of Disney+ Day, a date when the streaming service will allow fans and subscribers to access unique experiences.
It should be noted that Netflix another new version of ‘Pinocchio’, written and directed by the competition winner, is also about to premiere Oscar Guillermo del Toro. Ewan McGregor will play the lead role of Jiminy Cricket in this animated project. The film is expected to be released in December this year.
