See who was Youtuber that ended up receiving a tribute in ‘a Minecraft movie’, live action released in theaters later this month
With references to Minecraft ranging from setting to the inclusion of characters known to the fans, the first live-action inspired by this survival sandbox released in 2011, “A Minecraft Movie”, also bears a tribute to a popular name among the game’s game fan of the game: the late player Technoblade!
Who was Technoblade?
Technoblade has gained prominence in the United States for posting videos and making live broadcasts exploring the game map on YouTube, becoming known to be one of the best players on the Hypixel server, which is one of the biggest servers of the game in the world, as found by Veja.
While in the game he won tournaments and won a legion of fans – after all he 10 million subscribers – by showing ability to build what his imagination created by gathering the right elements and facing bizarre creatures like Creepers, Ghasts and Piglins, actually Technoblade had to live a real battle against something even more frightening: cancer.
He shared the diagnosis with fans in August 2021 by revealing that he had discovered a tumor on his right arm after feeling pain and swelling in his arm, which he imagined would only be a repetitive effort injury by playing too many video games.
From then on he underwent treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, as well as surgery to try to save his arm. However, despite the efforts, Technoblade’s struggle came to an end in June 2022, when he was only 23 years old.
YouTuber’s death was communicated by his father through a YouTube video titled “See you, Nerds,” where he read a letter from his son. In the text, Technoblade reveals his true name: Alexander and shows gratitude to what he lived with the fans.
“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years,” he said. “If I had a hundred more lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every time, because these were the happiest years of my life.”

How is the tribute to Technoblade in the movie?
Technoblade’s real identity was kept secret until his death. Until then, fans knew him only from his avatar in the game, which was a pig using a crown – a feature that came up as a tribute to the player in “a Minecraft movie.”
It turns out that while the character Steve introduces the village to the protagonists of the film, a pig using a crown comes up in his way. The action raises the doubt of who this character would be, since it is likely that he is a kind of king due to the accessory. However, solving the question, Steve replies, “He would be more for a legend.”
You can see the full moment in theaters, as “a Minecraft movie” is playing to tell the story of four maladjusted, Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks), which end up accidentally crossing a portal to overworld. Within the cubic universe, they know Steve (Jack Black), an expert level craftsman known by game fans for being one of the playable characters, who promises to help them return home, even though they need a lot of courage, creativity and teamwork.
