The doctor found the pontiff in a coma with his eyes open, but Pope Francis quickly died and did not feel severe pain.
Pope Francis died quickly. It was said by a doctor next to a pontiff in the last minutes, La Repubblica wrote on Thursday, April 24.
Roman Hospital Doctor Jamelli Sergio Alfieri, has noticed the Pope’s treatment for the past five weeks. According to him, it began when Francis fought bilateral pneumonia at the beginning of the year.
Alfieri said that on April 21’s morning they called him and asked to go to the Vatican quickly. He arrived after about 20 minutes.
“I went into his room, and he (Pope, – Ed.) Had his eyes open. I was convinced that there were no breathing problems. Then I tried to call him by name, but he didn’t answer me,” the doctor said.
According to him, then he realized that nothing could be done.
“He didn’t retaliate with stimuli, even in pain. At that moment I realized that nothing could be done. He was in a coma,” the doctor explained.
Alfieri noted that in this state the transportation of Pontiff makes no sense. He soon died. “It’s one of the strokes that lasts forever at an hour,” he emphasized.
Remember, on April 21, the leader of the Catholic Church Pope Francis died at the age of 88. He has led the holy throne since 2013.
Pontiff had a stroke, as a result of which he fell into a coma. Francis’s funeral will take place on Saturday, April 26th.
