Who is Lenore Dove, character of ‘Hunger Games: Dawn in the harvest’?

On the night of last Wednesday, 24, the Deadline portal announced the names responsible for living the protagonists of the film adaptation of “Hunger Games: Dawn in Harvest”. According to the report, Haymitch Albernathy will be lived by Joseph Zadawhile Lenore Dove Baird will be played by the actress Whitney Peak.

Who is Lenore Dove Baird?

First of all, it must be remembered that “Hunger Games: Dawn in the harvest” is 24 years before the original trilogy, following the youth of Haymitch Albaernathy, the future mentor of Katniss and Peeta, being set during the 50th edition of the Hunger Games, the year that marks the second quartan massacre.

In the new release, just on the first pages, the public is presented to Lenore Dove Baird, a young woman from District 12 who is Haymitch’s girlfriend and the great love of her life. Born in the year of the 33rd Hunger Games, the girl was created by her adopted uncles, Clerk Carmine Clade and Tam Amber, inside the gang – a group of panem travelers known for her musical skills. Her mother, however, passed away during her delivery, and she never knew about her father.

Haymitch and Lenore met when they were ten, during the fall, after the boy first passed the fence of the district 12 on his way to the forest, alongside Burdock Everdeen, Dove’s cousin. After the first contact, the two ended up getting closer and closer and consequently fell in love.

When the 50th Hunger Games arrived, the two were already in a relationship. Interestingly, the day of the harvest, when the taxes are chosen, was the same as Haymitch’s birthday and, before going to the draw, Baird presented the beloved with a lighter in the shape of a snake and a bird – the same that appears on the cover of the book and teaser.

During the draw, a rebellion begins, and while Haymitch was trying to protect Lenore from the pacifiers, he was chosen as one of the taxes that will participate in the games of the second quarten massacre.

After her boyfriend was taken to the capital, Lenore Dove, who always had a revolutionary personality, continues to challenge the organizers. When Haymitch received a low grade in training, she takes the harvest stage outside the Justice building, and sings forbidden songs, attracting a huge crowd, resulting in her arrest.

Two weeks later, Haymitch returns to district 12 as the big winner of the 50th edition of the Hunger Games, but cannot immediately meet Lenore, who was still incarcerated. The young woman was only released after her uncles were able to be in house arrest.

While grazing their geese on the Prado, the couple finally met, but was unable to live a happy ending. This is because, as a punishment of Haymitch’s rebel actions during the games, the pacifiers killed the mother of the champion, his younger brother Sid, and his beloved Lenore.

Lenore Dove’s death, unfortunately, was caused by mistake by his own beloved. At the time, Haymitch gave her to eat a gum bullet, believing it would be the same as he had given her brother to give her before going to the games. However, he eventually realized too late that, in fact, the bullets were not the ones he had bought, and that these were poisoned sweets planted by the capital.

Despite trying to save her, Lenore could not resist and died after ingesting the bullets. The girl was buried in the gang’s secret cemetery, with her pit being located next to Lucy Gray Baird and Maude Ivory Baird.
