The reformulation of the DC universe is still underway, and one of the most anticipated projects of this new phase is ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’. Scheduled in July 2026, the feature promises to present a more faithful version of the Kryptonian heroine comics, bringing a different approach from previous adaptations.

1. Production
The direction of ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ is in charge of Craig Gillespie (Me, Tonya, Cruella), who, according to Gunnit was his first option for the project, and it has been a key piece in the construction of the film.
The script was signed by Ana Nogueiraone of the first writers confirmed in the new phase of the studio, which had already worked in other adaptations for DC. According to the new creative director, the text was one of the first to receive green light in the new studio management and underwent several improvements until reaching the final version.
“I think we are in the midst of supergirl production. It’s so scary every time I say this, but it has been an extraordinary experience so far. Milly Alcockknown for the role of Rhaenyra Targaryen young in ‘House of the Dragon’, will play the protagonist Kara Zor-El. Second James Gunnshe was her first choice for the role, and the author of the comic book, Tom Kinghe stated that the lineup was “perfect”.
The cast still has Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, a young alien seeking revenge and crosses the path of Supergirl; Matthias Schoenaertswhich will bring life to the yellow hills, the main antagonist of the plot; while the parents of Kara, Zor-El and Alura will be interpreted by David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham.
Another prominent name is Jason Momoawhich returns to the universe DC as a wolf. The actor revealed that this has always been a role of dreams and assured that his look will be faithful to comics. Despite participation in the feature, wolf will play a smaller role, but with greater relevance potential in DCU in the future.
3. Plot

Based on the acclaimed miniseries of King“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will accompany Kara Zor-El on a journey of revenge and self-discovery. Unlike Superman, which was raised on earth from a young age, Kara grew up in a destroyed Kryptonian colony, witnessing the death of all around her. This traumatic past has shaped her personality and made her a very different version of the heroine that the public is used to seeing.
In the story, Kara joins Ruthye, a young alien seeking revenge against Krem from the yellow hills, her father’s killer. Together they embark on a mission to capture Krem, and the journey promises to be full of challenges.
James Gunn He pointed out that the feature will be one of the most intense stories of the new DCU, exploring the contrast between Kara and his cousin, Superman. The approach promises to bring a harsher and more resilient supergirl, “moving away from the character’s previous versions on the big screen.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is expected to hit theaters on July 26, 2026a little over a year after the release of “Superman”, which opens the new DCU.
