The National Bank explained its decision through several steps introduced to reduce the use of payment infrastructure in illegal activities.
The National Bank of Ukraine has decided not to expand regulation restrictions for 150,000 hryvnias per month for translating individuals from card to card. This was reported by the NBU Press Service on Tuesday, April 1.
“Last year, we recorded an abnormal surge of transfer volume between individuals of individuals, which is currently reduced as a result of the introduction of regulatory restrictions, NBU communication, which draws the market attention to the problem of drops, and the introduction of a memorandum.” The report said.
The NBU noted that imposed restrictions have stimulated the development of complex decisions aimed at reducing the use of payment infrastructure in illegal activities.
A memorandum was also developed and signed to the transparency of the functioning of the payment services market, which joined most banks serving retail customers.
In addition, financial institutions will continue to improve monitoring systems for payment transactions in accordance with NBU requirements, and law enforcement agencies actively identify criminal schemes.
The National Bank also developed the concept of a register of people who need to enhance the control of payment transactions, planning to send the Verkhovna Rada committee for the April.
“The national bank will continue to monitor the situation and work on other initiatives that will boost the effectiveness of resistance to criminal schemes involving drops, and also, if necessary, will take additional steps in accordance with its regulation,” the NBU emphasized.
Remember, from October 1, 2024, the NBU temporarily introduced a limit of 150 thousand hryvnias per month for transferring individuals from a card to a card (P2P) to combat criminal transfers through cards of fake individuals.
In December 2024, Ukraine banks signed a memorandum in ensuring the transparency of the functioning of the payment services market, according to which limits for customers without documented income are obligatory.
