Get to know some of the great idols of the K-pop industry that had to go through long years of training before debuting
Becoming a K-pop idol can be much harder than many imagine. This is because, to become a South Korean pop music star, aspiring artists need to go through a training period, where they will receive classes in everything that is needed to become a star, including dance, singing, languages, acting and more.
This period, however, does not come with the certainty of debut, and also does not have an average duration. For starters, being accepted as a trainee is already very difficult, as evaluations to get into a company are often very rigid and with limited vacancies, disputed by dozens of people.
Already during the training, after being accepted, every month the trainees will be evaluated by executives and producers of the agency, to accompany the evolution of future artists and what people will be selected to integrate the new group. If entrepreneurs conclude that someone is no longer evolving, or just not reaching expectations, the person is discarded and has their contract completed.
In addition to facing the pressure of evaluations and the fear of disposal, trainees also need to live with uncertainty, as they have no prediction of when they can debut, or if they will have a chance to realize their dreams.
This is why we often hear stories of idols who spent many years training, coinciding with that period with other artists who debuted before, as is the case with Bang chanfrom Stray Kids, which debuted only in 2018, but trained at the same time as members of Got7, Twice and Day6.
