Minniemember of (g) I-DLE, in an exclusive interview with the Thai artist channel Woody Milintachindahe opened his heart about his personal experiences with mental health, openly speaking about depression and the panic attacks he faced during the group’s world tour.
During the covid-19 pandemic, the singer revealed that social distance and the absence of live presentations profoundly affected her emotional health. When he returned to the stage, the feeling of being observed by a large audience triggered an unexpected reaction of panic.
“I was introducing myself on stage. Suddenly, I felt like my eyes looking at me. I felt like ‘why are they looking? What are they looking at?'” He reported.
Minnie He also shared that the worldwide tour of the female group was a particularly difficult period, with constant pressure and the feeling of being observed, causing a camera, doubt and insecurity to invade it. “Get out of here,” “You shouldn’t be here”, “this is not your place” were some of the phrases that echoed in her head revealed by the singer, comparing this inner conflict to a struggle between an “angel” and an “demon” in her mind.
Despite her anguish, the artist stated that initially did not share her feelings with anyone. It was only when the pressure became unbearable that she decided to talk to her manager, who guided her to seek medical help. However, the search for service took a week. During this period, negative thoughts continued to dominate his mind.
When finally went to the doctor, Minnie He explained that the signs of depression had been present for a long time and were reported by the professional, but that Idol’s bustling life made the search for help: “As an idol, I had no time,” he said.
It also emphasized the impact that words can have on others, especially in a world in which evil comments on social networks are frequent.
“I want you to think a lot before talking or before commenting something. Because sometimes people talk or type something and then forget what they said. But the person who heard or read that … she never forgets.”
Finally, Minnie He spoke of the support of the group members in this fight and how much she feels grateful to be part of (G) I-DLE: “We go through a lot together and each has a different personality. Like, how confused, how can they be in the same group? But when together, we fit well,” he said, highlighting how much mutual respect and sincere conversations strengthened the relationship between members.
