“Flow”, one of the sensations of the year, winner of the Golden Globe and direct competitor of “Fun Mind 2” and “Wild Robot” to Oscar’s Golden Statute, has been gaining more animation lovers around the world every day .

The plot is set in a utopian world where humans no longer inhabit the earth and animals fight for survival, as the planet was flooded with water, thus having as protagonist a lonely black cat that sees its reality change when seeking refuge in a boat when you see your home be dominated by the flood. “Flow” will show the problem that is to stay on board, needed to live with animals whose nature would never allow them to be in the same environment without causing confusion, but given the situation of the planet, they will have to learn to live to survive.

The most curious about the whole plot is there is a lack of dialogues in it, thus using the real sounds of animals during the feature. Therefore, in an interview with Rolling Stone Brasil, the director of “Flow”, the filmmaker Latto GINTES ZILBALODIS, shared the process of creating the animation.

How was ‘Flow’ created?

Describing as a “unique way of production”, the director explained that the film was produced through a collaboration between three studios, one located in his native country, Latvia, and the others in France and Belgium, in which they were defined in Set a small studio, the size of a bedroom, for recording.

Zimbalodis He said it was a challenging moment, because as an animator he had never worked in his own studio and taken ahead of a team, saying that “sometimes not knowing the right way to do things can be useful,” because it is possible to find ” Original solutions “for the plot, becoming a greater prominence to the public, precisely because it does not go through conventional paths, presenting something new to the screens.

It takes five years to finish, including the routing time until the construction of the studio, the filmmaker explained that the production itself was “very fast”, taking less than a year to end, which is considered a brief period for the gender.

Gints It also shared that the animations are usually made by storyboards, however, the Golden Globe winning animation did not use the same technique, thus creating the plot through 3D software, a more independent and cheaper way to drive production.

The director also compared the budget to animations such as Pixar, Dream Works and Disney, which have approximately $ 200 million dollars (R $ 1,153,980,000, at the current price) to perform the work, revealing that “Flow” cost a sixty value times smaller, with only $ 3.5 million budget.

Launched in May this year at the Cannes Film Festival, the feature film will debut on February 20 in national theaters.
