When will ‘Sonic 4’ be released?

Ready for another adventure with the blue hedgehog who can run at the speed of sound? The film franchise starring Sonic got its official date this Wednesday, the 22nd, to hit theaters — and look, “Sonic 3: The Movie” hasn’t even come out yet!

When will ‘Sonic 4’ be released?

The information was confirmed by Paramount Pictures, which revealed that “Sonic 4” will be released in theaters on March 19, 2027, in the United States. In Brazil, there is still no defined date.

Until then, fans can watch the previous films, as in 2020 “Sonic: The Movie” was released, the first feature film starring Sonic. In the plot, which mixes live-action with digital animation, Sonic ends up being discovered by the evil genius, Dr. Eggman Robotnik, and to keep the world safe, he will have to stay away from the villain so that his powers are not used to the evil.

Furthermore, in 2022 “Sonic 2: The Movie” (2022) was released, where Sonic forms an alliance with Tails with the aim of preventing Robotinik from finding a mystical emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Both films are available for streaming in the Universal+ catalog.

In 2024, it was possible to guarantee a ticket for “Sonic 3: The Movie”. The plot has the following synopsis: “Sonic, Knuckles and Tails come together to face Shadow, a new and mysterious enemy with powers unlike anything they’ve faced before. With their abilities surpassed in every aspect, they seek an unlikely alliance.”

The addition to the franchise became its most profitable, as it surpassed previous worldwide box office grosses of US$319 million and US$405 million, and garnered US$422 million in ticket sales around the world. On review aggregator sites, the third feature film also surprised by receiving the Fresh seal on Rotten Tomatoes, having 88% approval from critics and 95% from the public.

Adaptations of games created by SEGA from the 1990s onwards, the films were all directed by the animator and screenwriter Jeff Fowlerwho debuted as director in the first title released in theaters with Sonic in the lead role.

In cinematographic works, Ben Schwartz became responsible for giving voice to the protagonist, while Idris Elba grants tone to Knuckles and Keanu Reeves plays the villain Shadow in the original dubbing. As for the live-action cast, Jim Carrey It’s Eggman, James Marsden is Tom Wachowski and Tika Sumpter It’s Maddie Wachowski.
