Imaxtree:
Appearing on the spring-summer catwalks, asymmetric pants that cover one leg and reveal the other, intrigue and confuse. To the extent that they divide the most modern stylists Madame Figaro. They give us their strong opinion on this unusual piece.
It’s a bold piece, therefore definitely fashionable. It appeared on the spring-summer 2025 catwalks, but also among the experienced designers of Paris Fashion Week open. Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton and Coperni have all offered versions tailoring. Victoria Beckham, for her part, imagined an unstructured model with a wide opening on one side. Brave? Elegant? Innovation? Of course a sword! But will this hybrid piece, which renews the purpose of trousers, succeed in luring people off the catwalks and leave its mark for more than one season? Is the trend standing on its own two feet? Madame Figaro who face the problem.

For: Fashion editor Mathilde Camps’ opinion
“I really like the look powerful and the unexpected impact of these pants, they veer between stagewear and superheroine looks. It’s a solid piece, easy to wear, and can elevate any silhouette without being too complicated, provided you mix it with a classic jacket, of course back and stay measured with the rest of your outfit. And then the offer is new, even unprecedented, it is a real addition to the wardrobe, and not what we already find there. These pants also allow you to update the costume, to twist it in a different way than, for example, with Bermuda shorts. It’s a real fashion piece, radical but also sexy without being vulgar, a bold model that stands out, but much more interesting than, for example, the ripped jeans that we’ve seen a lot in recent years. Pants that also work with a layered mini dress on top. But be careful, the piece requires perfect legs and knees to wear it to the office or in the evening.”
Against: the opinion of the head of the fashion department, Carol Matray
“What an idea!” The fashion designers ran out of fabric.I don’t understand the principle. On one side we are cold, on the other we are hot, we expose one leg, but not choosing which one. In my opinion, it’s an experimental vision of fashion, and I don’t see the commercial side of these clothes at all. Working in fashion, I say that bold pieces don’t scare me, I can wear a feather on my head, dare to use color, transparency… But these pants are not.I have to say that I have never liked asymmetrical pieces like a one-sleeved sweater. However, I understand that on the catwalk this type of product can stand out and entertain the gallery. But visually it seems to me that it is neither elegant, nor even less sexy, if that was its purpose. And most importantly, I I ask myself questions. Are these pants really worn everyday? Are they really going to sell them in stores? Will Zara or H&M welcome the idea of offering these types of pants on their shelves? I have my doubts…”
