The future of NewJeans’ activities remains uncertain after the most recent announcement from ADOR, the agency responsible for the group. Last Thursday, January 9, the group’s official profile reported that the release of the scheduled content, titled “Light Jeans,” was canceled due to “internal and external circumstances.”

“Light Jeans” would be a series of behind-the-scenes videos of the members during photo shoots and other official programming. This is the first cancellation since the group announced, in November 2024, its decision to leave ADOR, generating a legal impasse with the agency.
The cancellation of the project, scheduled to be launched on January 10, marks a critical point in the dispute. According to industry experts, any independent activity by NewJeans before the court resolution could intensify the legal problems facing the group. Another factor that complicates the situation is the possible renewal of the Hannia Vietnamese-Australian member, which may be affected if the termination of the contract with ADOR is recognized in court.
The controversy behind the breakup
The situation began to get complicated in November, when the members of NewJeans unexpectedly announced their intention to leave ADOR at a press conference. ADOR responded quickly, questioning the legality of the decision and initiating legal action to clarify the terms of the contract. Even in the face of conflict, the agency guaranteed that all of the group’s schedules and commitments would be maintained, while the members declared that they would fulfill their commitments to avoid harm to third parties.
NewJeans held its last official program under the management of ADOR and HYBE, with a performance at the Golden Disc Awards, on January 4th. The group’s agenda also included participation in advertising filming, but, according to experts, commitments related to presentations have already been completed.
With the relationship between Minji,Hanni, Danielle, Harin and HyeinWith ADOR deteriorating and an ongoing legal case, the group faces significant challenges in maintaining its presence in the music industry. In the meantime, fans eagerly await updates on the future of NewJeans.
