Find out when the new season of “The Last of Us”, a series inspired by a video game and starring Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, will be released
Sony Pictures announced during CES 2025, one of the largest technology fairs in the world, that the long-awaited second season of “The Last of Us” has premiere scheduled for April 2025. Although the exact date has not yet been released, the news was accompanied by a new teaser, which highlights scenes of Abby, played by Kaitlyn Deverand intense moments involving infected people in Seattle.
As revealed by the producers, the plot of the sequel will adapt only part of the story of the game The Last of Us Part II, with the events being developed over the course of at least one more season. The second season will have fewer episodes compared to the first, but there are already plans for a longer third season, making up for the difference.

Second season plot
The narrative follows the protagonists Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in a world ravaged by a fungal infection, where violent factions vie for control of territories. Abby’s entry into the story promises to have a transformative impact. In the plot, the character is a soldier seeking revenge, whose conflicts are deeply intertwined with the paths of Joel and Ellie.
In the game released in 2020, Abby was played by Laura Baileywhose award-winning performance won BAFTA and Game Awards. Now, in the television adaptation, Kaitlyn Dever takes on the role, expanding fans’ expectations.
The second season also promises new faces in the cast, such as Young Mazino (Bullshit), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) and Isabella Merced (Dora the Explorer), in addition to, of course, the return of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramseynow seeking justice in a post-apocalyptic scenario set five years after the events of the first season.
A worldwide success, “The Last of Us” was renewed for a second season just two weeks after the debut of the first. All episodes of the initial season are available for streaming on Max.
