A global phenomenon, the South Korean series, ‘Round 6’, quickly won fans around the world with its tense narrative and striking visuals. The first season, released in 2021, broke records and brought a unique approach to the survival genre, mixing drama and social criticism.

With its resounding success, it was only a matter of time before audiences eagerly awaited the recently released second season. However, what many may not know is that, in addition to the captivating plot and characters, ‘Round 6’ was also influenced by a K-pop icon: BLACKPINK.

What is BLACKPINK’s influence on ‘Round 6’?

The director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed in an interview that she was inspired by the girl group, composed of Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa and Jenniewhile creating one of the most striking visual elements of the series. During the launch of ‘Round 6’, he shared that the game’s “managers” uniforms, initially composed of black and pink, recalled the aesthetics of the K-pop group, which has an equally bold and flashy look.

This touch of inspiration led to the creation of the iconic black coffins with pink ribbon used to transport the bodies of eliminated players. This tribute to the group did not go unnoticed by BLINKs [fãs do BLACKPINK]who were delighted by the unexpected surprise and the connection between K-pop and the series.

While the second season’s cast brings even more complexity and intensity, with the return of Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hun) and Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), providing the public with new surprises. With the addition of new names like Im Siwan,Kang Ha-neul, TOPformer member of BIGBANG, the continuation of ‘Round 6’ continues to surprise and excite fans.
