‘Inside Out 2’ director reveals discarded island from film

The big hit among 2024 animations, ‘Inside Out 2’ continues the journey of Riley’s mind, now facing the complexities of adolescence. A sequel to the acclaimed 2015 film, the film follows the evolution of the girl’s emotions, with Anxiety taking a central role as she deals with new challenges in her life.

Directed by Kelsey Mannthe animation not only maintains the intelligent humor and deep reflections on human behavior, but also introduces new characters and locations inside Riley’s mind.

During an interview with ‘Variety’, Mann revealed an idea that almost made it into the film: the inclusion of a procrastination island. This island would be a place where Riley’s emotions would wonder why it was never completed, a fun joke about procrastinating behavior.

“It was a really fun place, but it was very difficult to fit it into the story, especially one about Riley being overcome by Anxiety. However, we ended up cutting it, but it’s definitely a place I want to go back and revisit, who you know someday”, said the director.

Although the island was not included, ‘Inside Out 2’ remains faithful to the spirit of the first film, exploring human emotions in depth in an accessible and touching way.

The film is available on Disney+ and continues to win over audiences by addressing relevant themes in a light and fun way.

About ‘Dream Production’

In the same universe as ‘Inside Out’, the derivative series ‘Produção de Sonhos’ debuted on streaming on December 11th. Focused on the creation of dreams and nightmares inside Riley’s mind, the plot offers new insight into how her emotions influence her creative mind. The series maintains the film’s tone of humor and reflection, expanding the universe already loved by fans.
