Last Thursday, the 26th, the long-awaited second season of “Round 6” arrived in the Netflix catalog, one of the most watched productions in the history of the streaming service.
Throughout the new episodes, the audience will follow Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung Jae), the big winner of the first season, returning to the dispute as Participant 456 in search of revenge against the organization, with the aim of destroying the lethal game once and for all. Watch the trailer!
In addition to the return of Jung Jaethe new season of “Round 6” also features the arrival of new names in the cast, such as Park Gyu-young (“Sweet Home”), Roh Jae-won (“Missing Yoon”), Kang Ae-sim (“The Drama of My Life”), Lee Jin-uk (“Sweet Home”) and Lee David (“At the Fortress Walls”).
Two other big names that were confirmed in the cast and caught the public’s attention are Jo Yuriformer member of the girl group IZ*ONE responsible for playing the character Kim Junhee, and TOPformer member of the renowned boy group BIGBANG, who plays Choi Su Bong, a rapper also known as Thanos.
But, after all, will ‘Round 6’ have a 3rd season?
Although the second season has just arrived, many fans have already been wondering about the possibility of another season — and the answer is yes, “Round 6” will get a third season, which will be responsible for marking the end of the successful franchise .
The information was revealed in September this year along with the announcement of the release date of the season 2 episodes, through a text written by Hwang Dong Hyukthe director, screenwriter and executive producer of the K-drama.
In the publication, the filmmaker said: “It’s been almost three years since season 1 achieved overwhelming success around the world. Since then, many incredible things have happened. And today, I have the pleasure of writing this letter to announce the premiere date for season 2 and provide some news about our third and final season.”
“Seong Gi-hun swore revenge at the end of season 1 and is back in gaming. Will he be able to get revenge? Again, the leader does not appear to be an easy opponent. The tense atmosphere will continue until the end of the series, in season 3, which will be released next year,” concluded Dong Hyuk.
Although the third and final season has already been confirmed, in a recent interview with Variety magazine (via Koreaboo), Hwang Dong Hyuk revealed that, after working on “Round 6” for so long, in addition to being physically exhausted, he is already tired of the series, and that he plans to take a long hiatus after the end of the franchise to rest.
“I’m so exhausted. I’m so tired. In a way, I have to say, I’m so tired of ‘Round 6,’” he said. I’m so tired of my life doing something, promoting something. So I’m not thinking about my next project right now. I’m just thinking about going to a remote island and having my own free time without any Netflix calls.”
