21-year-old singer Claude, who fled Congo to the Netherlands as a teenager, will perform on the Eurovision 2025 stage in Basel.
The Netherlands will be represented by 21-year-old singer Claude at Eurovision 2025, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland.
The artist, who was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, moved to the Netherlands with his family at the age of 13. NOS reports this.
Claude is already known for the hits Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot), Layla and Écoutez-moi, where he seamlessly combines Dutch and French.
“I’m very happy and can’t wait for Europe to hear this song,” said Claude.
The singer was selected from 331 applicants, including popular performers. The selection jury, which includes experienced musicians, chose Claude’s song because of its ability to unite audiences and become an international hit.
“This year, we, as the selection committee, have chosen a song that is meaningful, united and capable of becoming a hit with an international sound that can win the hearts of both young and old Eurovision viewers,” said the jury in a statement.
It was previously reported that the Montenegrin group NeonoeN, which was supposed to represent the country at Eurovision 2025, refused to participate after the scandal.
The list of judges for the national selection for Eurovision 2025 has been announced
