See everything you need to know before checking out the new series ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’, which premieres on December 20th on Disney+
Launched in 2007, “Wizards of Waverly Place” was one of the biggest hits released by Disney Channel. The series, starring Selena Gomezfollows the story of a family of wizards who need to keep their powers a secret, winning three Emmy Awards, the main award on American television.
The series was so successful that, in 2009, it received its first derivative production: the film “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie”, where the Russo family takes a trip to the Caribbean to enjoy their vacation, but ends up facing great adventures.
Proving its long-lasting success, 14 years after the release of the fourth and final season, the series gained another spin-off, the series “The Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”, which debuted in the United States in October, and will arrive in Brazil on 20 December, exclusively on the Disney+ streaming platform.
Now, the new series stars David Henrieresponsible for playing Justin Russo, Alex’s older brother, character from Selena Gomez. 1. Alex is the family witch
In the final episode of “Wizards of Waverly Place”, we follow the long-awaited competition of wizards to find out which of the Russos will have the family’s powers. With the end of the contest, after Justin reveals that Alex would have come first if he hadn’t stopped to help him, the girl ends up being elected the big winner, keeping her magical abilities.
2. Justin no longer uses his powers
Despite losing the competition, Justin ended up keeping his powers after taking on the role of director of WizTech with the retirement of Professor Krümel (Ian Abercrombie), who passed on all his skills to him. However, at the beginning of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”, we discover that the boy was fired from his position due to a “unicorn incident” that was not detailed, completely distancing himself from anything related to magic.
3. Justin and Juliet are no longer together
Also during the last episode of “Wizards of Wavely Place”, we see that Justin is still dating the vampire Juliet (Bridgit Mendler), with whom he had been in a relationship for a long time. However, as much as the couple was extremely adored by the public, in “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”, the two are no longer together, and the older Russo is already in another relationship.
4. Wife and children
In the new series, Justin, who is now 34, is married to a mortal woman named Giada (Mimi Gianopulos). Although the couple’s love story has not yet been explained, the relationship has already produced two beautiful children: Roman (Alkaio Thiele), the oldest, and Milo (Max Matenko), the youngest, who have not yet had the extent of their powers revealed.
5. Justin’s new family doesn’t know about his powers
Although the magical world has been part of Justin’s entire life, “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” begins with his new family not knowing about the Russos’ powers, something he has hidden for years. Still at the beginning of the series, with the arrival of Alex asking his brother to help teach magic to Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a young sorceress, he ends up revealing the truth to his wife and children.
