What is the difference between ‘Dream Production’ and ‘Inside Out’?

Discover the elements that make ‘Produção de Sonhos’ and ‘Inside Out’ different productions, even though they belong to the same franchise

Arriving in the Disney+ catalog this Wednesday, the 11th, “Produção de Sonhos” is the new addition to the “Inside Out” franchise. The plot, like the films released in 2015 and 2024, takes place in Riley’s head, but presents significant changes in relation to what was seen on the big screen.

With this in mind, RECREIO gathered the main differences between the two titles:

Format

Films, “Inside Out” and “Inside Out 2” were released in cinemas worldwide. Unlike cinematographic works, “Produção de Sonhos”, directed by Mike Jones, did not reach cinemas. That’s because the animation arrives in a new format for the franchise: in series! In total, there are four episodes, whose average duration is 20 to 30 minutes.

Approach

Although everything happens in Riley’s head, the action does not take place in the Control Room for the emotions Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger, and the newcomers Anxiety, Boredom, Shame and Envy, but rather in the place that gives the title to series, where Riley’s dreams are projected.

Furthermore, the story will be told in a mockumentary style, a genre in which a fictional production is produced following the same characteristics as a real documentary.

History

The feature films follow Riley’s emotions. First, primary emotions help the girl face the move to a new home, a new school and a new routine, going through real hardships and tragic goodbyes to find a way to live in a healthy way with everything that was happening.

In the second film, they try to protect her from the feelings that arise after her thirteenth birthday, since, in addition to knowing that her best friends are going to study elsewhere, she will have to concentrate on joining the hockey team and make new friends, all while dealing with the arrival of puberty and new emotions.

Dream Making, however, has a different plot, as this is the place where Riley’s dreams are built. Placed in the girl’s mind not only at night, where they can help her better interpret real-life meanings, dreams also appear during the day as daydreams that place Riley in a world of fantasies even in real life.

Thus, the series will follow behind the scenes of the place, which works like a real recording set, and will show the difficulties of director Paula Persimmon as Riley gets older, since in adolescence, unicorns and extraordinary worlds are no longer enough for her. fulfill the girl’s dreams.

Characters

While the films mainly follow Riley and her emotions, new characters were introduced to tell the story of the series: Paula Persimmon, the person responsible for commanding Riley’s dreams, having held the role for about a decade; Zak, comedy director; Sheng, action director; Gigi, director of nightmares; and Xeni, director of waking dreams.
