5 memorable couples from Disney Channel series and films

Take a look back at some of the most memorable fictional couples featured in renowned films and series created by Disney Channel

At the beginning of this month, the Brazilian public was surprised by the announcement that Disney Channel will go off the air in Brazil from February 2025. In addition to the renowned children’s channel, channels such as Star Channel, FX, Nat Geo, Cinecanal and Baby TV will also stop showing their programs during the same period.

As reported by Folha de S. Paulo, one of the main reasons for the end of the titles would be the low audience, with the only survivor being ESPN. In a statement, Disney reported that the decision was taken as a response to “transformations in the local media landscape.”

“In response to the transformations in the local media and entertainment landscape, and to ensure that we continue to evolve and meet the needs of our consumers with agility and innovation, we have decided to discontinue the operation of some linear channels in Brazil from February 28, 2025 This decision includes the closure of Star Channel, Cinecanal, FX, National Geographic, Disney Channel and Baby TV, without impacting our sports channels”, he explains.

Over the years, Disney Channel has been responsible for creating films and series that have impacted the lives of thousands of young people and children around the world. In many of his stories, youthful romances were one of the biggest highlights, creating fictional couples that, to this day, are adored by fans.

With this in mind, RECREIO has put together a list of 5 unforgettable couples created in Disney Channel productions. Check it out!

1. Mitchie and Shane (Camp Rock)

In the first film in the “Camp Rock” franchise, Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) ends up becoming interested in the voice of a mysterious girl that he hears while running away from a legion of fans. Throughout production, he also starts to develop feelings for Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), without knowing that she is the girl he is looking for.

Despite some conflicts, the two end up recognizing their feelings for each other, and become even closer later, when they return to camp — but the expected kiss only happens at the end of the second feature. The chemistry between the two was so great that it ended up going beyond the small screen and, in an interview, Demi Lovato already revealed that he fell in love with Joe Jonas in the scene where he sings “Gotta Find You” to her at the lake.

2. Alex and Mason (Wizards of Waverly Place)

Throughout the four seasons of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Alex Russo (Selena Gomez) had different boyfriends, however, one of the most striking is, without a doubt, Mason, the werewolf played by Gregg Sulkin.

The couple met at school, and soon began a romance due to their similar interests — in addition to both not being ordinary humans. Throughout the series, they went through ups and downs in their relationship, however, they never stopped supporting each other, with Mason being present in the dispute to decide who will be the Russo family’s wizard, wearing a t-shirt with his girlfriend’s face.

3. Christopher Wilde and Jessica Olson (Starstruck)

“Starstruck: My Boyfriend is a Superstar” is the film considered by many to be an adaptation of classic fanfic stories. In the film, Jessica Olson (Danielle Campbell) accompanies her sister, Sara (Maggie Castle), to the event of an artist she hates: Christopher Wilde (Sterling Knight).

Despite not liking the singer very much, Jessica ends up meeting him when leaving the event, and the two begin an adventure through Hollywood, developing a beautiful feeling — which needs to be hidden due to Christopher’s career. In the end, the boy decides to take a risk, and finally admits that he is in love with the girl, who has no connection with the world of celebrities.

4. Miley and Travis (Hannah Montana: The Movie)

During the series “Hannah Montana”, Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) also engages different romances. In the film based on the series, “Hannah Montana: The Movie”, the young woman gets involved with Travis (Lucas Till), a boy who works on his family’s farm in Tennessee.

During their days in the countryside, the two end up falling in love, however, Miley also hides her double identity from Travis, which he discovers after seeing her taking off her wig when she was going to meet him for dinner. Despite the tension, the two resolve each other, and the boy is one of the people who support her in telling the truth to others.

5. Troy and Gabriella (High School Muscial)

As one of the most profitable films ever released by Disney Channel, one of the main couples featured in “High School Musical” is Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), who meet during a New Year’s Eve resort and, days later, meet again at school after the girl transfers, developing a romance.

Although, at the end of the first film, it is already clear that the two are together, the long-awaited kiss only appears at the end of the second film. In the third, the couple goes into crisis due to the end of school, and the arrival of college, which could make them stay away. However, in order not to be far from his loved one, Troy ends up choosing a closer university, ensuring that the relationship does not end.

The relationship between the characters also went beyond the small screen, with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens falling in love during recording, and soon starting a relationship. The lovebirds, who were one of the most popular couples of the 2000s, remained together from 2005 to 2010, separating two years after the end of the trilogy.
