Monica Bellucci: I did a series called Mozart in the Jungle in which I had to play a singer. I read the letters and memoirs of Maria Callas. I sought to understand the man because he was a great artist, a diva, a fragile soul, a simple heart.
What unites you with him?
We have a common Mediterranean heart, a great passion. I heard Callas’ song Carmen I think that once you enter this world, you are forever affected. Maria Callas felt a bit of an outsider everywhere, because she was born in New York. Then she went to Greece, then she became a star in Italy… She was an outsider everywhere. I can really relate to this state of mind, this is the part that really touched me.

The world’s greatest talents have been coming here since 2001. And Morocco has become a very important place for big productions.
What did you learn in Tim Burton’s master class?
First of all, Tim came because he has a lot of respect for this festival. I think he was very happy to be there. I really like that he still has this modesty. Modesty, which moves me immensely.
