It is worth remembering that Disney released last Monday, 02, a video where Lin-Manuel Miranda and the production director, Barry Jenkinsreflect on the film’s soundtrack, where Miranda reveals that he took a large part of the song ideas directly from the film’s script, which was written by Jeff Nathansonwho also signed the first live-action.
“It’s very rare when you read a script and think ‘this song goes here’,” he said. Miranda before revealing that “I Always Wanted A Brother” came from a line of dialogue in the film. The track, however, initially had another name: “Brother Trouble”, as remembered by Jenkinswho stated that the title was defined by Miranda.
Furthermore, “Milele” was chosen by Lin as the most difficult song to write, proving to be “scary” to convey the feelings that Disney usually does so well in a song.
“The Lion King has an incredible musical history, created by some of the greatest composers of all time, and it’s an honor to be a part of it. It was wonderful working with Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa’s story to life, and we can’t wait for audiences to see the film in theaters,” concluded Miranda.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel that follows the past of Mufasa, Simba’s father, showing his rise to the title of King of the Jungle, and the construction of his relationship with his brother, Scar.
In the cast, Aaron Pierre (Time) will give voice to Mufasa, Kevin Harrison Jr. (The Chicago 7) will be responsible for Taka, a character better known as Scar, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter will reprise the role of Nala, while her daughter, Blue Ivy Carterwill be Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala.
