The comedian will host the 97th ceremony, replacing Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted the Oscars for the past four years.
American comedian and TV presenter Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for the first time in his career. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Awards organizers called the 61-year-old O’Brien the perfect choice, citing his brilliant sense of humor, live broadcasting experience and a genuine love of cinema. “His great ability to connect with audiences will bring audiences together to do what the Oscars do best – honor this year’s best films and directors,” the statement said.
Conan himself reacted to the news in his own unique way. He wrote on social media X: “America asked for it. And it’s finally here: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’ll be hosting the Oscars.”
Interestingly, longtime host Jimmy Kimmel bowed out in 2025 after four ceremonies.
The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2, 2025.
