Check out some similar points present in the series ‘The Villains of Valley View’ and ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’, from Disney Channel
On December 4, the series “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” will arrive on the Disney+ streaming platform, a production derived from the renowned Disney Channel series, “Wizards of Warverly Place”, where Justin Russo (David Henrie) will need to be the mentor of a young sorceress who has a personality similar to that of her sister, Alex (Selena Gomez).
Originally launched in 2007 in the United States, “Wizards of Waverly Place” was one of the channel’s most successful series, winning three Emmy Awards, and responsible for catapulting the career of Selena Gomez.
In 2022, Disney Channel launched a new series with a similar proposal to the Russo family story, however, focused on villains: “The Villains of Valley View”, a production that lasted just two seasons, before being canceled this year.
Despite being different stories, fans ended up noticing some similarities between the two productions, which may surprise you. Check out some!
1. The extroverted best friend
In “Wizards of Waverly Place”, Harper Finkle is Alex Russo’s best friend, having a very different personality from her colleague, as she is extremely extroverted and often makes her own crazy clothes.
In “The Villains of Valley View”, Hartley, the new neighbor of the family of villains who becomes friends with Amy and Jake, is also a very extroverted girl, who is always happy and positive.
2. Families keep secrets
In both “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Villains of Valley View”, both main families keep secrets. While the Russos need to hide the fact that they are wizards due to Wizarding World rules, the villains are hiding from other supervillains after Amy confronts the leader of the evil organization.
3. The younger brother is transformed into an animal in some episode
During the first season of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Max ends up being turned into a dog while helping his older brothers get backstage at a dog event.
In “The Villains of Valley View”, in the third episode of the first season, Jake accidentally hurts Colby and, in order to avoid further questions if they went to the hospital, ends up turning the youngest into a turtle, and takes him to a clinic veterinary.
4. Science Fiction Fair
In the series “The Villains of Valley View”, Jake, Amy and Hartley go to Colossal-con, a superhero convention held in Texas. In the second season of “Wizards of Waverly Place”, the Russo brothers go to a local convention in search of dishonest wizards, who are taking advantage of the event to use their powers.
5. The older brother is super responsible
In addition to events in the plot, characters with similar characteristics are also very common between the two series. In addition to the extroverted best friends, another strong example are the older brothers with a great sense of responsibility: Jake, from “The Villains of Valley View”, and Justin, from “The Wizards of Waverly Place”.
