Four years away from the programming of national and international broadcasters, “Chaves” should return to SBT’s programming schedule this month
Scheduled to return to being shown every day on SBT starting next Monday (18) at 6:30 pm, the series “Chaves” lost its place in the daily schedule.
“SBT’s communications department informs that changes to the nighttime slot of the program from 11/18 have been cancelled,” says the broadcaster’s statement.
The changes also revealed new times for “A Caverna Encantada”, which would air at 7:45 pm; SBT Brasil at 8:45 pm and, finally, “Programa do Ratinho”.
Will Chaves not return to SBT?
Still, fans can rest assured that Chaves will return to the channel. “It was not cancelled, but postponed [a volta de ‘Chaves’]. As soon as we have a new date, we will inform you,” an SBT representative told CNN.
Folha de S.Paulo’s F5 portal had previously reported that SBT withdrew from changing the prime time schedule following “a joint request from several of the broadcaster’s affiliates, who are satisfied with local versions of Tá na Hora in the late afternoon “, stating that “police programs provide good ratings and revenue.”
Even so, until a new date is decided, “Chaves” will be shown sporadically, as SBT has signed an agreement with Televisa, the Mexican broadcaster responsible for production rights, so that programs starring and created byRoberto Gómez Bolaños could return to Brazilian programming.
Why wasn’t Chaves being shown before?
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the series, which was originally shown between 1973 and 1979 in Mexico, could not be shown nationally and internationally for four years due to the legal battle waged by Televisa and the family of Bolaños to define the division of production rights — which is why SBT, which had been broadcasting the episodes for 36 years, had to remove the title from programming in 2020.
