This past Tuesday, the 12th, “Nova Cena”, the first Brazilian musical reality show on Netflix, premiered, with the four episodes of part 1.
The reality show was inspired by the North American program “Rhythm & Flow”, the national version follows the trajectory of 18 new talents as they compete for the R$500,000 prize and a special participation in the 5th season of the series “Sintonia”.

Team of Judges

The program’s jury is made up of Brazilian rap figures: the twin sisters Tasha & Tracierecognized as one of the biggest female names of the genre today, represent São Paulo. They share the bench with Djongafrom Belo Horizonte, and Filipe Retfrom Rio de Janeiro, forming a trio that reflects the diversity and strength of hip-hop in three important Brazilian capitals.

In an interview with Glamour, they shared more details of the exchange of opinions with the other jurors:

THE Ret and the Tasha they had more similar thoughts; already me and Djonga we agreed more. So, there were some clashes, but everything was very healthy. One detail is that all four of us are Geminis. So, as much as we think differently, we were compatible in the sense of arguing, he said Tracie.

Tracie highlights that reality promises to be unpredictable and dynamic: “You can’t expect predictability because everything changes in this game”, he states.

Known for their gratitude to musical references and achievements in hip-hop, Tasha & Tracie show enthusiasm and comment:

Racionais, Tupac, Lil’Kim, Foxy Brown… We like hardcore rap! We also follow many pop diva rappers too, but our career reference is more serious raps, in the sense of the weight of the music and the posture, he comments Tasha.

Future

Furthermore, the reality show continues with the airing of part 2, including the final two episodes, on November 19th. And what can we expect from the twins in the future? They respond:

We are organizing our lives, our companies, because we also have other businesses besides music. We work internally behind the scenes to grow as businesswomen and artists. We don’t want to promise anything, but what people can expect is that we will be more and more ourselves. Anyone who thinks they can control us will always be disappointed”, he concludes. Tasha.
