Series derived from Disney Channel classic Wizards of Waverly Place reveals fate of important character
“Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”, derived from the series “Wizards of Waverly Place”, brought back the characters Justin and Alex Russo after a 12-year hiatus, however, it left out the youngest of the family, Max Russo.
David Henrie leads the return of the Disney Channel series, reprising his role as Justin, now married with a family, living a life far removed from the magical adventures of yesteryear.
Selena Gomez makes a cameo appearance as Justin’s sister Alex, who arrives on his doorstep with a young sorceress named Billie (played by Janice LeeAnn Brown), hoping that he will agree to be her mentor, reports People magazine.
The destination
Max Russo, previously played by Jake T. Austin, does not appear in the new series. However, his fate is mentioned in the opening episode: Max took over his father’s business and manages a successful fast-food franchise.
Upon arriving at Justin’s house, Billie asks, “So you own all the diners? Like, a billionaire.”
“Oh no, that would be Max,” Justin replies. “I’m a vice principal at a high school, which some would say is a lot cooler than being a billionaire.”
“I would never say that,” Alex (Gomez) replies, while Billie agrees, stating, “Nobody says that.”
When the series was announced in January, Henrie, now 35, reassured fans on Instagram after David DeLuise, who played patriarch Jerry Russo, expressed surprise about the project in a comment on the social network.
Henrie quickly dispelled concerns by commenting: “We definitely plan to bring the original cast to the series.”
DeLuise returned as Jerry in the series, but Max (Austin) and matriarch Theresa (Maria Canals-Barrera) have yet to appear.
Plot
This time, the production will focus on Justin, the Russos’ eldest son. The revival will follow the character played by the actor David Henrie starting an ordinary life with his wife and children after giving up his powers, after a mysterious accident happened at WizTech.
However, what Justin least expected is that everything will change after a young witch appears at the door of his house asking for help, where he will now need to embrace his past, and help train the girl by giving magic lessons — just as he already did. years before.
