Have you ever wondered if the toys from ‘Toy Story’ can live forever? The film’s director, Lee Unkric, explained the issue in his X. Find out!
The toys in Toy Story lead their lives as if they were really human, being able to speak, think, or have feelings like us. However, many believe that not all of their abilities would be exactly the same as ours, as there was a theory that they could possibly be immortal.
However, the secret behind the vitality of these objects ended up being revealed on the filmmaker’s Twitter Lee Unkrichwho directed the third film in the franchise. Upon seeing two fans arguing about whether the toys could die, the director responded:
“They live as long as they exist. But what if they are completely destroyed? Say, in an incinerator? Game over.”
If they were truly immortal, when destroyed, the toys would remain alive as remains until they were transformed into something else again. In this way, at the end of Toy Story 3, when Woody and his friends were almost incinerated, that really could have been the end of the beloved characters.
With four films already released, the Toy Story franchise debuted in 1995 by Pixar, and all of its titles broke box office records — in addition to the third feature being on the list of the 15 biggest worldwide releases. Now, Disney has confirmed the production of the fifth film with Woody, Buzz and company, however, there is still no release date.
The most recent release derived from the Toy Story story is “Lightyear”, a film that presents the story of the space ranger responsible for inspiring Andy’s favorite doll. The official production synopsis reads: “As Buzz tries to find a way back home through space and time, a group of ambitious recruits and their charming robot cat companion, Sox, join the hero. To complicate the situation, Zurg, an imposing presence, and his army of merciless robots, arrive on the planet with a mysterious appointment.”
