Discover the first information released by SM Entertainment about the label’s first group after aespa’s debut
SM Entertainment is set to debut a new K-pop girl group soon! As revealed by the company this Tuesday, 5th (via Soompi), the lineup should debut in the first quarter of 2025.
SM co-CEO, Jang Cheol Hyukshared what the company expects for its debut next year:
In addition to our existing and much-loved artist teams, SM has been continuously debuting new artists since last year, establishing a wide range of artist IPs across all generations of K-pop. With the debut of a new female group next year, we will further solidify our lineup of artists,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that, if the debut occurs on schedule, it will mark the debut of a K-pop girl group from SM for the first time in 5 years, as the most recent lineup made up of singers from the label appeared in 2020, with the release of the digital single “Black Mamba”, which features the voices of Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningningwhich form aespa.

With four years of career, the aespa is one of the most successful groups of the 4th generation of k-pop, since, in addition to records and awards, they managed to achieve several hits, such as “Next Level”, “Savage”, “Spicy”, “Drama”, “Girls ”, “Illusion”, and more.
They, who five months ago released the first full-album in the group’s discography, “Armaggedon”, have as their most recent comeback the fifth mini-album “Whiplash”, released on music streaming platforms with 6 tracks. They are: “Whiplash”, “Kill It”, “Flights, Not Feelings”, “Pink Hoodie”, “Flowers” and “Just Another Girl”.
The album’s title track even received an MV. The lyrics talk about self-confidence and the ability to attract the attention of everyone around you just with your presence; remember!
