Why will ‘Arcane’ end with season 2? Creator explains

Christian Linke, co-creator of “Arcane”, explained why the animation will end next season; understand!

Christian Linkeco-creator of “Arcane”, a series based on the universe of the game League of Legends, explained in a recent interview with Comic Book (via Omelete) why the animation will end next season.

The news, which was not very well received by fans of the series, was given shortly after the release of the official trailer for the second part — but the showrunner revealed that the ending of the story had already been planned since the beginning of production:

We always had a story in mind with a beginning and an end. I think it was more about the character arcs. We knew we wanted to do something specific. We didn’t necessarily have a specific number of episodes in mind, but we always knew it would be a finite story. It wasn’t an open concept for a series. It was very organic for us, so there was never this question of, ‘Oh, when is it going to end? We don’t know.’ We knew from the beginning.”

Although the series had a short broadcast time, Christian emphasizes that the production was dedicated to closing the characters’ arc in a satisfactory way, ensuring that fans have a good experience until the end.

I don’t know how many TV shows you’ve watched where 10 or 11 characters are given a full, satisfying arc that is resolved. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. It’s scary. It was just a part of what we built. We wanted this kind of story together (…) That’s the question of a video game adaptation. There’s always going to be someone who, no matter if you make a character secondary, millions of people are going to say, ‘What the hell? And my character? Why isn’t he getting the arc he deserves?’ It was a constant responsibility. We can’t escape it. We need to give everyone a proper story.”

The first episodes of the second season of “Arcane” arrive in the Netflix catalog on November 9th, with the following chapters being released on the 16th and 23rd of the same month.

Arcane at CCXP24

At the end of September, game developer and publisher Riot Games confirmed its participation in CCXP24 with a themed stand dedicated to “Arcane”.

The place promises to feature several references, immersions and interactive activations, being dedicated to bringing moments of magic where the community can celebrate together, not only the new episodes of the series, but also the public’s passion for the universe of LOL and Runeterra — a world that serves as a backdrop for the developer’s games, such as LOL itself, as well as Wild Rift and Teamfight Tactics.
