The American Heart Association has added hits from Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and more to its CPR playlist. The tempo at which these musical compositions are maintained helps during the rescue operation.
The American Heart Association has put together a Don’t Drop The Beat playlist on Spotify featuring hits from Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, Lady Gaga and other popular artists to help with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Compositions from this playlist are distinguished by a rhythm of 100-120 beats per minute – this is exactly the tempo of chest compressions during resuscitation of the elderly.
The list includes tracks like Lady Gaga’s Disease (101 bpm), Taylor Swift’s Love Story (119 bpm), Red Doja Cat’s Paint the Town (100 bpm) and more than 150 other compositions.
The association says that if a teen or adult is unconscious, call 911 and then apply rapid chest compressions at a rate of 100 to 120 beats per minute.
Other popular tracks on the playlist include Lady Gaga’s Just Dance and Poker Face, Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso and Enhypen’s Bite Me.
