In addition to the pages, the story of “Sunrise on the Reaping”, the new ‘Hunger Games’ book, will be adapted in cinemas
Promised to be released on March 18th next year, the new book in the Hunger Games saga, “Sunrise on the Reaping”, written by the author Suzanne Collinsgot the long-awaited official synopsis.
The title was announced in June this year as a prequel to The Hunger Games, as it will feature Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark’s mentor, Haymitch Abernathy, as the protagonist, and will be set during the 50th edition of the Hunger Games, to which he was a tribute. In this edition, the second Quartenary Massacre in the history of the competition took place, where 48 tributes were selected to fight to the death, making the last survivor — Haymitch — become the winner.
The synopsis says:
As the day of the 50th annual Hunger Games dawns, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quaternary Massacre, twice as much tribute will be taken from their homes. In District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too much about his chances. He only cares about getting through the day and being with the girl he loves.
When Haymitch’s name is called, he can feel all of his dreams crumble. He’s been ripped from his family and his love, taken to the Capitol with the other three tributes from District 12: a young friend who’s almost a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most arrogant girl in town.
When the Games begin, Haymitch understands that he is doomed to failure. But there’s something in him that wants to fight… and make that fight resonate far beyond the mortal arena.
More than just a summary of what fans will be able to find in “Sunrise on the Reaping”, the cover of the book was also revealed, which will be released in Brazil by Rocco, with no set date yet for it to reach national shelves; look:
It is worth remembering that in addition to the book, fans will also be able to see an adaptation of the plot on the big screen, which will be produced by Lionsgate. The feature film is expected to be released in November 2026.
