The end of the contract between Taeil, ex-NCT, and the entertainment company, SM Entertainment, comes after the idol was the target of a criminal investigation

We would like to inform you that our exclusive contract with Taeil has been terminated on October 15, 2024.
Taeil is currently under investigation by the prosecutor’s office for a criminal case. Not only does this constitute grounds for termination under our contract, but it also makes it impossible to maintain trust in him as an artist. As a result, both parties mutually agreed to terminate the contract.
We sincerely apologize once again for any concerns caused by Taeil, who was previously one of our artists.”
The end of the link between the agency and TaeilThis happened because the idol is the target of an investigation into the accusation of a sexual crime, allegedly committed with two of his acquaintances, against an intoxicated woman. According to the Bangbae Police Station, a neighborhood in the city of Seoul, South Korea, the police report was opened by the victim in June.
As a result, SM, which according to the Newsen portal (via Koreaboo) supposedly learned about the case in mid-August, announced that Taeil he stopped being part of NCT on the 28th of the same month — the date on which the idol was also questioned by the police, also resulting in the end of the management contract previously established between the artist and the company.
