This Tuesday, the 15th, the state audit of the Environment and Labor Committee of the South Korean National Assembly took place to discuss issues related to bullying in the workplace, which was attended by Hannifrom NewJeans, as one of the witnesses.
During her testimony, the singer revealed her experience related to intimidation with idols, and harassment in the workplace, citing the incident with the manager of another HYBE group, who allegedly instructed the artists to ignore her, as one of the pieces of evidence.
“At the beginning of my debut, I met several superiors, but they never greeted me when I greeted them. While living in Korea, I understood that you should greet your elders well. I thought not greeting them was rude as a person. There was a certain kind of atmosphere in the company. It’s hard to say anything, and only people who have been affected can feel that,” revealed the artist (via Koreaboo).
Still in his statement, Hannirevealed the real reason why she decided to attend the audit alone, even though her presence was not mandatory.
“I don’t understand why I have to go through this and why this person would say something like that in a work environment,” said the singer. “This has happened more than once or twice, and if I continue to remain silent, this will pass and be buried. This can happen to anyone. I decided to participate, hoping that current interns, seniors, juniors or colleagues do not experience this.”
