Spin-off of ‘Scooby-Doo’, the animation available on Max will not get a third season. Understand what happened to ‘Velma’!
As reported by Deadline, the streaming platform Max confirmed the cancellation of the animated series “Velma”, derived from “Scooby-Doo”, after just two seasons, which have been the subject of controversy since its announcement.
After the launch of the second season in April, and the Halloween Special at the beginning of the month, as reported by Omelete, internet users began to speculate that the title would not have reached the audience necessary for a third season to be approved. The information, however, has not been confirmed.
Aimed at an adult audience, the series follows the members of Mistério S/A getting together again to uncover the disappearance of the protagonist’s mother, and the recent murders of teenagers. Check out the trailer!
It is worth remembering that, despite being a spin-off of “Scooby-Doo”, the famous dog does not participate in “Velma”. That’s because, according to the showrunner Charlie Grandyduring the 2023 New York Comic Con, this was a rule imposed by Warner itself.
“We couldn’t find a way to do this [incluir Scooby]. How to do this in a fun and modern way? What made the original series a children’s series was Scooby-Doo. This coincided with Warner telling us we couldn’t use the dog. So let’s allude to the dogs of the world and leave it at that.”, he declared.
