The Prime Minister and his wife created a sensation on the red carpet of the Elysée Palace. It was the couple’s first official visit since Michel Barnier’s appointment as head of government on September 5.
This Friday, October 4th, the 19th Francophonie Summit took place at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, under the theme “Create, innovate and undertake in French”. On this occasion, dozens of heads of states and governments participated in this great event, which ended with a dinner organized under the gold of the Elysée Palace. Guests include Prince Albert of Monaco, comedian Gad Elmaleh, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Rachida Dutt. Not forgetting Michel Barnier, the new prime minister of Emmanuel Macron’s government.

During his first official outing, the politician was accompanied by his wife Isabel Altmayer. The couple, hand in hand, shined with their elegance on the red carpet in the courtyard of the palace. The Prime Minister wore an elegant black tuxedo paired with a white shirt. She wore a long ivory dress adorned with a necklace and covered with a long trench.
Communication in politics
Having been married to the new prime minister since 1982, Isabelle is a lawyer by profession. After working in the same firm for ten years, he reoriented himself in the field of communication. But his close connection with the political world is never far away. During the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, from June 2007 to 2010, Isabelle Altmaier-Barnier was responsible for a number of missions in the Ministry of Health, which was then headed by Roseline Bachelet. She then devoted herself to youth, women’s health and nutrition. Michel Barnier simultaneously holds the position of Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
