Toad’s voice actor guarantees that ‘Super Mario Bros. 2’ will feature old characters

Keegan-Michael Key, Toad’s voice actor in “Super Mario Bros. – The Movie”, guarantees that the sequel will feature old characters loved by fans

According to a recent interview with Men’s Journal magazine, the actor and voice actor Keegan-Michael Keywho lent his voice to the character Toad in “Super Mario Bros. – The Movie”, guarantees that the sequel will feature the appearance of old characters loved by fans of the game:

I feel like what they’ve done creatively (in the second film) is they’ve really expanded the universe that these characters live in and we’re going to meet some new characters. We’re going to meet some characters that are old (fan) favorites and some that I think are really for those who know the universe really well, but because of the way the story is unfolding now, these characters are going to be very intriguing.”

One of the characters who already has his appearance guaranteed is Yoshi, because in the post-credits scene of “Super Mario Bros. – The Movie”, we see a green egg hatching in the pipes of Brooklyn, accompanied by his iconic voice like in the games.

The first feature film is not yet available on streaming, but can be rented through Prime Video. The sequel, in turn, is scheduled to debut in theaters on April 3, 2026. In the meantime, remember the trailer for “Super Mario Bros. – The Movie”!
