After disputes with other companies, SBT won the rights to broadcast the series ‘Chaves’ and ‘Chapolin’ on Brazilian TV
HE’S COMING BACK! SBT confirmed last Tuesday, the 24th, that it will return to broadcasting the series “Chaves” and “Chapolin” on open TV, after signing an agreement with Televisa, the Mexican broadcaster responsible for the rights to the productions, so that the programs starring and conceived by Roberto Gomez Bolaños return to Brazilian television.
“SBT has reached an agreement with Televisa to acquire the rights to broadcast the beloved series ‘Chaves’ and ‘Chapolin’ in full in Brazil for open TV,” the broadcaster said in a statement released to the press (via Extra).
With the re-release scheduled for October, however, still without a date or time, SBT explains that the agreement allows the productions to be broadcast in full on open TV, in addition to also distributing some episodes on the +SBT streaming platform.
It is worth remembering that, for some time, other companies have also been competing for the rights to broadcast the series in Brazil. According to Folha de S. Paulo, Globo and the streaming service Prime Video have also negotiated with Televisa and Grupo Chespirito, alongside the broadcaster founded by Silvio Santos.
With the confirmation that SBT has won the broadcast rights, “Chaves” and “Chapolin” will return to Brazilian television after four years. More information about the date and time of the re-premiere should be released soon.
