A reboot of the beloved comedy series “Everybody Hates Chris,” the animated series “Everybody Still Hates Chris” premieres today, the 25th, on Comedy Central in the United States, in order to continue the semi-autobiographical story of Chris Rock.Remember the trailer!

With that in mind, RECREIO has gathered below everything you need to know before following the new title; check it out:

What was the idea behind “Everybody Hates Chris”?

With four seasons and more than eighty episodes, “Everybody Hates Chris” began airing on TV in 2005, following the comedian’s adolescence, played by Tyler James Williamsset in the 1980s in a drug and gang-ridden neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

Chris, who was considered the black sheep of the family, lived with his two younger siblings, the popular Drew, who was good at everything he did, and Tonya, the spoiled youngest of the family. They lived with their parents, Rochelle, defined by Chris in the series as “Poor and Pride”, whose trait was to change jobs at any setback with the excuse that she didn’t need to do it, since her husband had two jobs; and Julius, a tight-fisted man who tried to keep the family’s finances in order despite so many adversities.

In addition to the family dynamics, the relationships with his classmates and teachers at the school he attended were also presented, since he was the only black person at the all-white public school, as well as the new discoveries that arise at this stage of life, such as independence and first passions, in addition, of course, to the partnership that arose from the sincere friendship with Greg, and so many other topics addressed in a humorous way until the plot came to an end in 2009.

The animation is a continuation of the series

It’s important to remember the original title, because, according to Entertainment Weekly, “Everybody Still Hates Chris” is a direct continuation of the series, since it starts exactly where the fourth and final season of “Everybody Hates Chris” ended, since, after Chris fails the GED, Rochelle turns him into an animation.

The official synopsis for the animated series has not been released, but it promises to bring laughter, life lessons and a lot of chaos to Chris’s new experiences broadcast on TV.

What is the cast of the animation?

Just like in the series, Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold will be Chris’s parents, Julius and Rochelle. Still, these are the only names from the original cast in the new project, as Chris is voiced by Tim Johnson Jr. (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Akagha Ozioma (Justice League X RWBY: Heroes and Hunters) will play Tonya, Terrence Little Gardenhigh (Coffee and Kareem) will be Drew, and Gunnar Sizemore (Lucky) takes on the role of Greg.

When will it premiere in Brazil?

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” still has no release date for Brazilian TV and streaming.
