“The past is never dead. He never even passed.” For Nils Schneider, the character’s translator The world doesn’t exist This quote from William Faulkner is particularly striking. This mini-series by Erwan Le Duc (Partridge, Under control) follows Adam Wolman, an elusive reporter who returns to his hometown to investigate a breaking story. There he is confronted with a painful past, and his axes slide one after the other. With this breathtaking and unique fiction, the actor adds a new burlesque arc to his busy filmography.

Madame Figaro. – What attracted you? The world does not exist ?
Nils Schneider. – First, I really wanted to work with Erwan Le Duc, who in my opinion is one of the most interesting French directors. I like his humor, his relationships with those close to him. He has a very unique grammar of cinema, where nothing is ever expected. The detective series is also a genre that I love as a viewer, and this one combines everything I love: investigative journalism, the search for identity, all with a character who has the impression of being delusional, and which made me think: The world of David Lynch. The world does not exist is based on a basic fictional scenario while also addressing contemporary questions about fake news, the proliferation of stories…
What do you share with your character?
I rarely make connections between my characters and my own life, but if this role touched me, it must have resonated within me somewhere. Like Adam, we all have dark parts of our past that scare us and that we try to avoid, but which often resurface.
Would you make a good journalist? ?
I’d love to be anyway. Research work interests me as well as studying subjects. The role preparation phase is one of the phases that I enjoy the most in my work.

As your character is haunted by the ghosts of his youth, what memories do you hold on to from that period?
This is a very contrasting period, during which we believe that we are invincible, we experience magnificent things; I fell in love for the first time, I experienced great friendships, great passions such as theater, but we can also overcome very difficult challenges without needing to. being armed
What dreams did you have at that age?
Around the age of 13-14, I was into sports like BMX or even skateboarding and snowboarding, which I did, but I didn’t have the talent to go pro. I also really regretted leaving Paris and missing the Olympics this summer like all pessimistic idiots.
Erwan Le Duc is a burlesque and unique director. Where lies your sweet madness?
I am a very distracted person, I live a bit in my own world, and it makes people around me laugh a lot.

Like your character, who changes identities throughout his life, do you feel like you’re breaking up as an actor?
No, and I wouldn’t even be able to. On the other hand, anonymity has always made me dream. For example, I imagined Daft Punk on the subway without recognizing me, and this superhero side blew me away.
The public will soon find you in the shoes of General Leclerc. How did you get into the costume of this iconic character?
It was a big responsibility and I loved immersing myself in the life of this man I knew so little about. General Leclerc was a rare individual who knew how, against all odds, to maintain nobility of mind, dignity and humanity. To portray her, I read her notebooks, her letters, looked at archival images and listened to her a lot.
Do you like playing real characters?
Yes, because there comes a point when you feel a little overwhelmed by this person. I love this disorder and I find it exciting to bring someone back to life through games and film. Many features tell about a person: the rhythm, the bends, the way they move, the breathing, the look. General Leclerc was extraordinary, very sharp, his eye always flickered slightly, as if he considered himself immortal or, after all, it was not so serious.

Have you experienced the before and after of the series’ success? Of silver and blood, By Javier Gianoli?
A little, to the point that people now recognize me more on the street. But above all, this success pushes me to be as demanding as possible in my choices. No sequel planned, but I have a chance to find Ramsay (who played Fitus in the series, editor’s note) In Lucas Belvo’s next film, an adaptation of his book The afflicted.
Did you have a career plan when you started in film?
At all, at first I could not even imagine doing cinema. I saw myself more in the theater and I really had the impression of going from surprise to surprise. This makes it even more exciting. I can skip boards when I see a really nice piece. I can’t wait to meet my brother Vasili on stage. He is engaged in the adaptation of Panayiotis Pascoe’s book, Next time you bite the dust (Ed. Stock) at the “Petit Saint-Martin” theater in Paris. I think he’s a little nervous, which is totally normal, but I have no doubt he’ll be great.
