Through their Archewell Foundation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have written personalized letters to Americans to persuade them to vote in the next presidential election.
“Voting is not only a right. it is a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.” With these very words, which were published on the Archewell Foundation website, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle encouraged their community to register to vote and vote in the next presidential election to be held next November 5 in the United States. In this joint statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex asserted that voting is “civic engagement” that “regardless of political party is at the heart of a fairer and more just world”. “By participating in such initiatives, we want to reinforce the message that every voice matters,” they say in unison.
The said initiative is organized by their foundation, Archewell, on the occasion of National Voter Registration Day, which took place on Tuesday, September 17. Their team came together to write individual letters to “encourage unregistered voters to take the decisive step of registering on the electoral rolls.” To do so, they used Vote Forward, an editorial tool launched by an NGO to encourage Americans to vote.

Democratic support
For now, Harry and Meghan have been content to encourage voting without stating their electoral preference. But several indications suggest that Sussexites are more likely to support outgoing Vice President and Democrat Kamala Harris than Donald Trump, the unpredictable Republican. First, there’s the fact that they supported outgoing President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, in May 2021 by participating in a virtual event called Vax Live. The Concert to Reunite the World. A concert organized worldwide to encourage vaccinations during the Covid-19 pandemic. And here are the comments made by Donald Trump and his son Eric.

In August 2024, in GB News, Eric Trump, one of the former republican president’s sons, called Meghan and Harry the “bad apples” of the English royal family. Referring to the former acting career of the star. Suitshe also claimed that there are always “bad actors” and “bad apples” in any garden. He then addressed the royal family directly, saying of the people of Sussex: “You can bring them back. We will gladly send them back from America.”
Before that, in March 2024, Donald Trump attacked the couple, going so far as to claim that Prince Harry was at risk of being deported from America if he won the election next November. By 2022, he had already expressed his hostility towards the Sussexes. Thus, she told the controversial Piers Morgan that she was “not a fan” of Meghan Markle and even thought that her marriage to Prince Harry would “end badly”. Regarding the youngest son of Charles III, he also stated:[Harry] has been so disrespectful to the country and I think he is a disgrace.’ With all that said, it’s hard to imagine the Sussexes slipping a ballot for him.
