Find out how BTS member Jin used to be called by his friends and family when he was younger
Throughout our lives, it is common to receive different affectionate or funny nicknames from our friends and family. Some of them may only last for a short time, but many end up accompanying us for the rest of our journey, becoming a strong characteristic of each person.
In the world of celebrities, this is no different, with many artists even adopting their nicknames as stage names — such as Demi Lovatofor example, which is actually called Demetria.
Within K-pop, many fans also have the habit of giving different nicknames to their favorite idols, such as Jinfrom BTS, who can be called by ARMYs as Worldwide Handsome, Fake Maknae, Seokjinnie, Jinnie, Quokka, and more.
However, in a recent interview with Harper’s BAZAAR Korea, Jinshared that when he was younger, he was known by other nicknames by those closest to him.
According to the artist, when he was in elementary school, his friends used to create nicknames for him based on his real name, Kim Seokjin. That’s why, at that time, the oldest member of BTS was often called Kimbap or Kimchi, traditional dishes in South Korean cuisine.
When he reached elementary school, his classmates stopped referring to him with the names of foods and started calling him “elementary school kid” because of his youthful features. The curious thing is that the name ended up following him for a few years, since, according to Jinremained his nickname throughout high school and college. Check out the full interview!
In addition to Jinwithin BTS, all members have a series of different nicknames. J-Hopefor example, may be known as Hobi, Golden Hyung, Sunshine, Jay or Prince of Gwangju, while Jimin He is called Chimchim, Dooly, Mochi, Little Prince, and his favorite Jimin Fallon.
It is worth remembering that BTS is currently on hiatus so that the members can complete their mandatory military service. For now, only Jin was dismissed, with J-Hope scheduled to be released next month. Already RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook and Sucks are only expected to return to the spotlight in 2025.
