The Verkhovna Rada approved in general the draft law No. 6490-d on the reboot of customs.
The adoption of the document was supported by 260 deputies. The bill provides for a transparent competition for the head of the State Customs Service, his political independence, recertification of all employees, salary increases, etc. Deputy head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on Telegram.
It is also assumed that the head of the State Customs Service can be dismissed only based on the results of an audit. The bill provides for the introduction of an annual external audit of the effectiveness of customs activities.
And half of the members of the certification committees will be selected by international experts based on proposals from the business community.
It is noted that this law is an important structural beacon from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the United States, unlocking $6 billion in aid for Ukraine.
Let us recall that on August 29, the Verkhovna Rada supported the bill on rebooting customs. The relevant committee supported the bill No. 6490-d as a whole.
