5 saddest BTS songs

Although BTS has “Butter”, “Dynamite” and “Fire” as some of its biggest hits, the group formed in 2013 by BIGHIT Music doesn’t just have happy and danceable melodies in its discography of more than 20 albums featuring the voices of RM, Jin, Sucks, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

In fact, with the members involved in the production process of the tracks, it is common to find lyrics that reflect on the love and pain that young people in their early 20s face, some of them capable of moving even the least emotional fan of the group.

1. Spring Day

Released on February 13, 2017, “Spring Day” is the title track of the repackaged album “You Never Walk Alone”. Co-written by RM and Sucksthe song reflects on missing someone important and the desire to have that person close by again.

Everything is winter here
Even though it’s August, winter has arrived
My heart runs through time
Like a lonely Polar Express
Holding your hand
How much more will longing have to fall like snow
For that spring day to come?

2. Butterfly

“Butterfly” is the third track on the mini-album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.2”. Released on November 30, 2015, the song features only the vocals of the vocal line (Jungkook, Jimin, Jin and V) uses the metaphor of a butterfly to demonstrate the fear that the feeling of love shared between two people could dissolve.

Will you stand by my side?

3. Sea

Hidden track from “Love Yourself: Her”, the track “Sea” was released on September 18, 2017, and covers the trajectory of BTS and all the difficulties the members had to face until achieving the success they dreamed of on stage.

4. The Truth Untold

Another one from BTS’ vocal line, “The Truth Untold” was released in collaboration with DJ Steve Aoki on May 18, 2018 as one of the tracks on “Love Yourself: Tear”. The lyrics reveal the desire to get closer to someone and the fear of revealing who they really are to that person.

5. Blue & Grey

“Blue & Grey” emerged on November 20, 2020 as a track from the seventh mini-album “BE”. Co-written by the members Sucks, RM, J-Hope next to Metaphor, Park Ji-soo, Levi, V and Hiss Noisethe lyrics talk about the search for comfort by asking for an “angel” when bad feelings are too heavy to deal with alone, while the song’s title alludes to sadness and depression.
