Check out some Pixar animations that, unlike traditional ones, do not feature a major villain responsible for putting an end to the protagonist’s plans.
Villains are an important part of every plot — especially in animations. This is because they are the ones responsible for doing everything they can to disrupt the plans of the good guys, and are usually driven by radical and evil ideologies.
Throughout the history of cinema, we have been introduced to great antagonists, such as Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Cruella De Vil, Gaston, Captain Hook, Lotso, Stinky Pete and many more. However, some animated films have also presented plots that, as reported by ScreenRant, do not have a main villain. Get to know some of them!
1. Soul
In “Soul,” we follow the emotional journey of Joe Gardner and Soul 22, who have conflicting ideas about returning to Earth. In the story, the character who most resembles a villain is Terry, who has no evil instincts and is just doing his job, in addition to having a small role in the production.
2. Inside Out 2

Released this year, in “Inside Out 2”, Riley has to deal with the arrival of new emotions after the beginning of puberty. With this, Anxiety ends up causing huge chaos in the control room, due to the fear that everything will go wrong in high school. Despite messing with the teenager’s head, the character reveals at the end of the film that she did not do her actions out of malice, and that she was not bad, but rather did them because she believed they were the best decisions for the girl.
3. Finding Nemo

Throughout “Finding Nemo”, Marlin has to face countless challenges in order to find his son Nemo, where he often ends up finding only minor antagonists, who do not earn the role of major villains due to their short screen time, such as the shark Bruce.
4. Finding Dory

Following the same premise as “Finding Nemo”, in “Finding Dory” we don’t find a main villain, just small obstacles that provide more excitement to the plot, which revolves around Dory’s search for her parents.
5. Cars

In “Cars,” Chick Hicks was the main opponent of the protagonist Lightning McQueen — but the disagreement between the two is limited to racing competition. Throughout the film, when McQueen goes to Radiator Springs, the focus shifts to the development of the main character, making it impossible for Hicks to take on the role of the main villain.
