Before their debut, SEVENTEEN actually had 17 members, but four of them left the project before the group debuted; find out who they are!
Behind only NCT and tripleS, SEVENTEEN is one of the k-pop groups with the largest number of members, with 13 members in total. Some people, at first glance, still wonder about the controversy between the name and the number of idols in the boy group, but the explanation is quite simple and makes sense when you get to know them better: 13 members + 3 units (Vocal, Performance and Hip Hop) + 1 team = 17.
However, during the trainee period, SEVENTEEN actually had 17 members, but four of them left the project before the group even debuted in 2015. Knowing this, find out who these possible members were!
Jang Doyoon
Jang Doyoon was born on August 31, 1995, which would make him a possible leader for SEVENTEEN, as he would join the “95 line” with S.Coups, Jeonghan and Joshua. However, in 2014, Doyoon decided to leave Pledis Entertainment to pursue an acting career, as he discovered that his interest lay more in acting than becoming a K-pop idol.
He has currently appeared in several K-dramas, including “Finland Papa”, “Sing My Crush” and “My Sweet Darling”. Check out a video of 17TV while he was still a trainee with SEVENTEEN:
Yao Mingming
Like this The8 and Jun, Yao Mingming also came from China to train at Pledis Entertainment, where he would later join the Performance Unit in SEVENTEEN. However, in 2014, he left the agency to return to his homeland.
Years later, in 2019, Mingming participated in the Chinese reality show “Idol Producer”, where he was highly praised for his dancing skills and also met The8who had not yet entered Pledis before he left. Mingming He came in third place in the competition, joining the boy group UNINE, where he remained until 2020. Until then, he continues in the artistic world under the name Yao Bonan; check out the MV for “NUEVA VIDA”, one of their most recent releases!
Shin Dongjin
Shin Dongjin trained at Pledis Entertainment for a year, from 2013 to 2014, leaving his idol life aside to focus on his studies. But, according to Koreaboo, his father Dongjin began using his son’s name to persuade women to drink with him and there are some rumors that Dongjin would also be present during these moments, even though he was a minor, in addition to sharing photos of the SEVENTEEN members with his fans through a private chat, which caused Pledis to stop his progress in the entertainment industry.
Since then, no updates on his career Dongjin was reported; check out her solo stage at 17TV in 2013:
Samuel Kim
Samuel Kim would be the youngest member of SEVENTEEN, since he was born on January 17, 2002. Because of this, the other members liked to take care of him, which is why he stood out Samuel during 17TV. Unfortunately, he left Pledis Entertainment in 2013 as his mother thought he was too young to be an idol at that time.
However, the dream of becoming a Korean pop star remained alive in his mind. Samuelleading him to join Brave Entertainment in 2015, debuting in the hip-hop duo 1PUNCH alongside Jung Jae Wonbetter known as “One“. However, the duo announced their disbandment less than a year later.
Already in 2017, Samuel He finally debuted as a solo artist with the track “Sixteen”, which guaranteed him recognition and public attention to this day, where he also participated in the web drama “Sweet Revenge Note 2”;
