5 K-pop groups that announced their disbandment in 2024

With the year still coming to an end, check out five K-pop groups that have already announced their disbandment in 2024

The year 2024 is already approaching its final stretch and, so far, a series of events have managed to shake up the K-pop universe. Just like every year, in the last few months, fans have had to say goodbye to some formations, who have announced the end of their activities as a group.

With that in mind, RECREIO has put together a list of five K-pop groups that announced their disbandment in 2024. Check it out!

1. Weki Meki

In June, Fantagio announced that girl group Weki Meki, which had been active since 2017, would be discontinuing its activities after the release of their latest single “CoinciDestiny”. Prior to the release, the group had already been inactive since 2021.

The official disbandment took place on August 16, and was confirmed by the company through a statement. The statement also revealed that the members Elly, I know, Moon, Rina and Lucy left the agency, while Yoonjung, Doyeon and Suyeon are in negotiations to renew their contracts.


2. MIRAE

Formed in 2021 by DSP Media, MIRAE had seven members: Junhyuk, Link, Dohyun, Khael, Dongpyo, Siyoung and Yubin. The group’s disbandment was announced by the company on July 9, through a statement shared on the Weverse platform.

Through the note, the agency also confirms that Son Dongpyo will continue their individual activities under the company’s label. The group’s last release was in January of this year, with the Japanese EP “RUNNING UP”, which also marked their debut in the Japanese music industry.


3. Cherry Bullet

On April 22, FNC Entertainment, the company responsible for Cherry Bullet’s activities, shared a note through the Weverse platform announcing that, after long deliberation and discussion with the group’s members, the girl group’s activities would be ending after just five years of debut.

The statement also points out that the members Haeyoon, Jiwon, Remi and May would be leaving the agency, while Yuju, Let’s go and Chaerin renewed their contracts for individual activities. Their last release as a full group was in March 2023, with the mini-album “Cherry Dash”, which arrived accompanied by the title track “POW! (Play On the World)”.


4. XEED

Boy group XEED was launched by Nature Space Entertainment in December 2022, initially debuting with four members: DOHA, BAO, JAEMIN and RONI. A month later, RONI left the training for personal reasons, with SHUN and UO joining the group. Just over a year later, the company announced that the lineup would disband on April 8, 2024.

In a statement, Nature Space said, “After a long discussion with the members, we have decided to end the activities of XEED, who have worked hard since their debut thanks to the fans, on April 8. We would like to thank the members who have been with us for a long time and once again thank the fans for their support.” Their last release was in August 2023, with the second mini-album “BLUE.”


5. NATURE

After six years in activity, on April 27, n.CH Entertainment issued a statement announcing that, after discussions with the members of NATURE, it was decided that the group would be ending its activities. The group had not released any new releases since 2022, apart from the leader Lu having been away for a period due to a knee injury, and the maknae Sunshine been on hiatus since 2021, for an undisclosed reason.

Through the statement, the agency states that Sohee would remain with the company to continue his musical and acting career, implying that Lu, Sunshine, Aurora, You know, Chaebin, Haru, Loha and Uchae would be leaving the company. Their last release was the mini-album “NATURE WORLD: CODE W”, and the title track “LIMBO!”, which featured only seven of the nine members.
